A Day At The Movies

September 17, 2007

Well… I think the setup we now have at the Regal Cinemas in Bellevue is gonna work out just fine! We had a few new kids in the KID Zone and we wrapped up our current series of God’s Blessings. Next week is Funday Sunday, so we will be doing a bunch of review and games!

I want to say thank you to everyone that has worked so hard to get us where we are now, but especially to Tawney, David, Angela, Dianna and of course Patti! Due to some techinial difficulties, we almost had a giant blank screen yesterday – THANK YOU DAVID FOR ALL YOU DID!

I also want to thank Sean at the theater, who has proven himself to be invaluable, and also a pretty cool guy…

Please pray for our KID Zone kids as well as UpRising Youth!

September 15, 2007

We are jsut about ready to lift off! The UpRising crew did a great job of working on setup today for our first service at the Regal Cinemas in Bellevue. I really want to thank Tawney and Angela for all the effort they gave today… I’m pretty sure stuff would still be in boxes if it were left soley in my hands!

UpRising Youth also had the first meeting at the LeGrand residence in Fairview this evening. We had a great time and got into some pretty deep conversations… These kids are going places and we want to help make sure that they are places worth going to!

Well it is after midnight and I have two Youthgroup Kids sleeping over with my gang and I have been working on material for tomorrow since UpRising Youth wrapped up around 9PM, so it’s off to bed.

I’m tired, but it’s worth it!

Movin’ On Up!

September 13, 2007

This weekend is the big day! We will be having our first services at the new location, Regal Cinema in Bellevue! There will be a theatre for the nursery and a whole theatre for KidZone! Big screen, sound CUSHY SEATS – Woo Hoo!

Patti and I have been shopping and the prize box is well stocked!

I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has given to help get our nursery started. For thos who may not know, the wonderful nursery setup we had at the YMCA was great, but NONE of it was ours, except the pagers. So people have been buying things off our REGISRTY at Target to help us care for the little ones. And for that I really want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Please come see us this weekend – or as soon as you can…

Okay…

August 7, 2007

So the life of a children’s pastor can be pretty busy… Especially when you have four children to pastor, regardless of where they go to church!

Things have been going great here at The UC in KIDZone! We continute to learn AND have a tiny little bit of fun on the process…. I even had one parent pull me aside to say that their girls asked if they could do some extra chores around the house, so they would have something to give in the offering! We’ve been working on that and other things with the kids… We have such great kids and I am so glad to get feedback on them!

Here’s a few pix of the fun and partial mayhem that has become our services….

And yes… I took the day off this past Sunday. Now before you go an call me a slacker… Answer me this – Have you served every week for the passed few months? And, did you baptize your long lost brother this weekend?

‘Cause I did ;-)

This coming weekend is “Funday Sunday” so kids, make sure to review what we have been learning, ’cause this one is all fun and review – WOO HOO!

Weekend Report 2007/07/08

July 11, 2007

Whew! I’m finally getting a chance to sit down and blog for a moment! It was soooooooo nice to have curriculum to use! The lesson was actually similar to one that we did recently for Fathers’ Day, but we were able to modify it a bit to be unique enough so the kids weren’t like, “Hey, didn’t we just do this?”! Who knows, sometimes what we think is not optimal is actually perfect! Maybe God wanted this lesson drilled into certian kids heads, not to mention we had a few kids this past Sunday that weren’t here on Fathers’ Day.

We had awesome help from “The McCaffery Boyz”, Daniel and Mikey this week. Those guys are AWESOME!

Patti and I walked the kids through the lesson, which of course incuded our weekly Power Point and Scripture Memory Verse, which I am posting here for the kids to review. The Memory verse was done as a rap… If you’ve got kids that were in the service, see if they can repeat it!

POWER POINT God Is A Father Who Will Never Lets You Down

Romans 8 15

The little guy in the pictures above is “Baldy Eagle”. He and his friend “Bushy Squirrel” got into a little mischief which lead to Baldy being afraid to do what he was made to do – FLY! Sometimes we see things or experience things that cause us to fear and question what it is we are supposed to be doing… God is always there for us – even in those times and He will never let us down!

I hope I can remember to take some more photos to post from our services. The reality is that we get so focused on what we are doing and there is so much energy in the room that I keep forgetting to snap any pix! If you don’t see any in the coming days, call me on it… I need accoutability too ya know ;-)

I love it!

June 30, 2007

Well, I am working on the material for service. Patti suggested that we do a “Funday Sunday” this week. This is a special service where we do review with the kids and play a bunch of games & stuff. As the name implies, it’s usually a lot of fun! We will also participate in worship and go over our rules, but we feel it is important to make sure the kids are leanrning.

The other reason why it’s a good time for a Funday is that we are expecting our curriculum to FINALLY arrive this week. So it serves as a good break and place to wipe the slate clean, moving us into our next series!

And for me, it’s good too… I should only have about an hour to wrap up my review questions, instead of multiple hours finializing our own curriculum! Not that I have minded that… It’s a huge investment on my part, but that’s OK. I love what we are doing with the kids and they seem to dig it too, which makes it all worth while!
